Mjukstrålar i ryggfenan (totalt) : 4 - 6; Mjukstrålar i analfenan: 4. This species is characterized by the following: subopercular buckler dull, with few blunt spinelets at its tip; ventral surface is covered with minute prickles; pointed rostrum, directed rather forward than upward; principal bucklers on dorsal surface relatively small and flattened, interspace fully covered by small bucklers and prickles (Ref. 86633).
