Etymology: Amblyceps: Greek, amblys = soft, darkness + Latin, ceps = head (Ref. 45335); accari: Specific epithet derives from ‘accari’ (pronounced achchari), the Kannada word for ‘surprise’ highlighting the authors excitement over the discovery of a new Amblyceps species in the Western Ghats (Ref. 112632).

Collected from among the stones, not the sandy portions, of the moderately flowing river (Ref. 112632).
