Etymology: proudlovei: Named for Graham Proudlove, Manchester Museum, the University of Manchester; world expert on subterranean fishes, for his continuous efforts documenting the diversity of troglomorphic fishes.
Eponymy: Eidi Heidari, Lorestan Bureau of Environment, Iran, is the ranger who protects the spring in which species of this genus are found. Graham S Proudlove is an independent writer and editor, spelaeologist, entomologist and biologist formerly at the Department of Zoology at The Manchester Museum, where he is also Honorary Curator of Myriapoda. Eidinemacheilus proudlovei is distinguished from E. smithi by having the following characters: caudal fin with 8+8 or 8+7 branched rays; lack of adipose keel on the caudal peduncle; enlarged jaws; and a fully developed head canal system (Ref. 115525).
