Short description Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: length of snout (SLn) 6,7-10.0% head length (HL), mean 7.8 (vs mean 12.3% in T. trachinus; 12.1% in T. myops); body depth SLn 12.6-18.9%, mean 14.7% (vs. mean 21.2% in trachinus; 21.6% in myops); eye diameter SLn 31.6-51.7%, mean 40.1% (vs. 74.8% in trachinus; 79.1% in myops); interorbital width 4·0-6·7%, mean 5·6% HL (vs. mean 8·7% in trachinus; 8·9% in myops); anal-fin rays 14-16, mode 14 (vs. mode 16 in trachinus; 15 in myops); pectoral-fin rays 11-12, mode 11 (vs. mode 12 in the two species); lateral-line scales 56-59, mode 56 (vs. mode 57 in myops); further differs from trachinus and myops by deep mitochondrial distances (15.7-19.0 and 16.9-17.6%, respectively) (Ref. 110386).

Estimates based on models

Phylogenetic diversity index (Ref. 82804):  PD50 = 0.7500   [Uniqueness, from 0.5 = low to 2.0 = high].
Bayesian length-weight: a=0.00468 (0.00223 - 0.00980), b=3.18 (3.00 - 3.36), in cm total length, based on LWR estimates for this (Sub)family-body shape (Ref. 93245).
Trophic level (Ref. 69278):  3.9   ±0.7 se; based on size and trophs of closest relatives
Resilience (Ref. 120179):  High, minimum population doubling time less than 15 months (Preliminary K or Fecundity.).
Fishing Vulnerability (Ref. 59153):  Low vulnerability (10 of 100).
