Spine dorsali (totale) : 6 - 7; Raggi dorsali molli (totale) : 26 - 28; Spine anali: 2; Raggi anali molli: 26 - 28. Body elongate, higher and more bluish than N. lopezi. Forehead without rostral prominence even in adults. Two small peduncular plates each with a sharp, approximately semicircular, laterally projecting keel. caudal fin emarginate without a filament. Reaches 46 cm SL.
