Etymology: Farlowella: Because of W. G. Farlow, from Harvard University (Ref. 45335); gianetii: Named for Dr. Michel Donato Gianeti, in recognition to all the assistance provided both during the
visits to the ichthyological collection of the MZUSP (Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo) and through loan/data request management; a patronym in genitive case (Ref. 128466).
