Etymology: Diaphus: Greek, dis, dia = through + Greek, physa, phyo = to beget, to have as offspring (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Dr N C Andersen was the ship’s doctor on board the Danish research ship ‘Dana’ on a number of cruises. Tåning named this fish after him as a memorial to his late friend. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
