Etymology: Galeus: galeos, a small shark or dogfish according to Aristotle and others (See ETYFish)schultzi: In honor of Leonard P. Schultz (1901-1986), Curator of Fishes, U.S. National Museum (based on an unpublished name proposed by Henry W. Fowler) (See ETYFish).
Eponymy: Dr Leonard Peter Schultz (1901–1986) was an ichthyologist and field naturalist who was Assistant Curator of fishes at the Smithsonian (1936–1938), then Curator (1938–1968), during which time he was Ginsburg’s boss, and Senior Zoologist (1965–1968). [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
