Etymology: Neolamprologus: Greek, neos = new + Greek,lampros = torch + Greek, lagos = hare (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: André Schreyen was a Belgian collaborator (and nephew) of Congo-based, then Burundi-based, aquarium fish exporter Pierre Brichard (1921–1990) and later of Brichard’s daughter, Mireille, who is married to Jacky Schreyen who, we think, is his son. [...] (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Shy, rock-dwelling species, living deep inside rock crevices; never seen in the open; spend all of their time hiding (Ref. 6770). Usually found at levels deeper than 20 m (Ref. 46829). Lives in the crevices of the sediment-rich rocky biotope; its enlarged molar-shaped teeth indicate a diet of hard substances (Ref. 7343).
