Etymology: Nemipterus: Greek, nema, -atos = filament + Greek, pteron = wing, fin (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Aurora was the Roman goddess of the dawn. In the case of the goby, the name refers to the pattern on its caudal fin being ‘…reminiscent of the rising sun’. The name is often applied to species with pink/yellow colouration. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

الأشواك الظهرية (المجموع) : 10; الأشعة الظهرية الناعمة (المجموع) : 9; شوكة شرجية: 3; أشعه شرجية لينه: 7. Body pinkish above, shading through pale mauve to silvery on ventral half with 4 or 5 longitudinal, upward-curved silvery-white stripes along the middle of each scale row below lateral line.

Inhabit sand and muddy bottoms (Ref. 9785).
