Etymology: Sinibrama: Latin, sino, sina = from China + old French breme, bresme, a fresh water fish; 1460 (Ref. 45335).

Anal fin with 20-25 1/2 branched rays; last simple dorsal ray bony; belly keeled between anal fin and pelvic fin origin (Ref. 43281). Lateral line slightly curved, in the lower part of the body, till the middle of the caudal fin. Silver white stomach with some black spots, black gray in dorsal and caudal fins (Ref. 33303).
